Welcome to my website!

My name is Louise Grandjean, I am an orchestral, chamber music and solo harpist currently based Hong Kong.

I had my first harp lesson at the age of 8 with Vassilia Briano at the Conservatoire in Toulon. There I also expanded my interests and took dance lessons as well as theater lessons.

In 2011 I started my studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Prof. Xavier de Maistre.

In 2016 I moved to Berlin to pursue my Master's degree with Marie-Pierre Langlamet, the solo harpist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

To finish my studies, I graduated from the Meisterklasse program with Prof. Cristina Bianchi at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in 2021.

From 2018 to 2020 I was an academist at the Staatskapelle Weimar where I enjoyed playing a large repertoire of both symphonic and opera pieces, under the tutelage of Elisabeth Anetseder.

In 2017 I took part in the Pacific Music Festival in Japan under conductor Jun Märkl, and in 2019 I was selected for the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, with whom I toured throughout Europe with Christian Gerhaher and Herbert Blomstedt.

I have been perfoming on a freelance basis with some of Germany's leading orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the HR, WDR, MDR and NDR Symphony Orchestras, the Hamburg Opera, the Munich Opera, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne. On top of my work in Germany, I have been invited to play with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Toulon Opera and the Taipei Symphony Orchestra.

I regularly play as Solo Harp of the Würth Philharmonic since 2019 and as 2nd Harp of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra since 2021.

For the year 2022, I was acting Solo Harp of the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn. In 2023 I was acting Solo Harp of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck.

For the 2023/2024 season I am acting Principal Harp of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
